Working in your inbox

Keyboard shortcuts

Shortcuts are scoped to where your cursor is. Learning that scope decides whether C closes a conversation or just types a letter.

Konvo's shortcuts are scoped to where your cursor is: the inbox list, an open conversation, or a composer you are typing in. Learning that scope is the whole job, because it decides whether C closes a conversation or just types a letter.

Where this guide shows Cmd, use Ctrl on Windows.

The one rule: typing wins

Single-letter shortcuts (A, C, J, K, Z, R) only fire when you are not writing. Give the composer focus and they go back to being letters, which is what stops Close from firing mid-sentence.

  • Escape blurs the composer and hands the letters back.
  • R puts you back in it.

Pressed C and nothing closed?

Your cursor is in the composer. Escape first, then C.

Anywhere in Konvo

  • Cmd+K opens or closes search.
  • Cmd+B shows or hides the sidebar.
  • Cmd+Z takes back the message you just sent, while the undo toast is still on screen. Once it fades, the message is gone.

Moving through the inbox

  • J and K walk to the previous and next conversation, without opening anything.
  • Cmd+Click adds or drops one conversation from a multi-select.
  • Shift+Click takes everything between your last click and this one.
  • Right-click on a row that is not selected selects it first and then opens its menu, so a bulk action never lands on the wrong conversation.
  • Escape clears the selection.

Working a conversation

  • A assign. C close. Z snooze. R reply.
  • Cmd+Shift+M opens macros, from the conversation or from inside the composer.
  • Escape takes you back to the list, or back to the advanced search you came from.

Writing a reply

  • Cmd+Enter sends.
  • Cmd+Shift+Enter sends and closes, in one motion.
  • Enter is a newline. It never sends.
  • : opens emoji suggestions.

In the macro picker and the emoji list alike, the arrows move the highlight and Enter applies what is highlighted.

Enter in a reply vs Enter in a chat

A customer reply is a document you draft. A chat message is a line you fire off. Enter does the opposite in each, which makes this the one pair worth memorising.

The case that catches people: an Input needed card sits inside a conversation, so you can be one click from the composer and still be in the box where Enter sends. Check which box you are in before typing more than a sentence.

Searching

  • Cmd+K, then the arrows move through results and Enter opens the highlighted one. In Advanced Search the highlight wraps around.
  • Enter with nothing highlighted scopes to an exact contact match if what you typed is one, and otherwise opens Advanced Search.
  • In a preview, Enter opens the conversation and Cmd+Enter opens it in a new tab.
  • Escape goes from a preview back to the results, from the results out of the palette, and from Advanced Search back to where you started.
