Email connections
The ways you can connect email to KonvoAI, and how email becomes a conversation.
Email connections let your customers reach you by email and have those messages land in your KonvoAI inbox as conversations — with replies going back out as ordinary email, threaded into the original message.
There are three kinds of email connection. You get the first one for free; the other two you add yourself.
The three kinds
Organization inbox
A ready-made @mail.konvo.to address, created with your organization. No setup.
Gmail / Google Workspace
Connect a Google mailbox with one sign-in. No DNS changes.
Custom domain (forwarding)
Use your own address with any provider. Forward mail in and authenticate your domain to send replies.
How email becomes a conversation
Regardless of which connection you use, the flow is the same:
A customer emails you
They send to the address tied to one of your connections — your @mail.konvo.to
inbox, your connected Gmail mailbox, or your own custom-domain address.
It lands as a conversation
KonvoAI matches the recipient address to the connection that owns it, identifies the sender by their email address, and opens (or continues) a conversation for that person.
You reply, they get an email
Replies go out as email, threaded onto the customer's original message
(subject prefixed with Re:, proper reply headers) so it shows up in their
mail client as part of the same thread.
One address, one connection
Each email address can be owned by exactly one connection across KonvoAI. You can't connect the same address twice, and address matching is case-insensitive.
Choosing a connection
- Just getting started, or want a throwaway inbox? Use the organization inbox — it already exists.
- Your support email is on Google? Use the Gmail connection — it's the quickest, with no DNS work.
- You want to use your own branded address at high volume on any provider? Use a custom-domain forwarding connection.
